I was first elected as a Trustee of the Malvern Hills Trust (MHT) in 2015. I have had experience in charity functions, finance and governance as trustee and honorary secretary of an academic learned society, and as a trustee of a national research institute, both registered charities. Until I retired, I was a professor of molecular microbiology at the University of Birmingham – arising from an interest in the biological world that dates back to my childhood.
Previous commitments have included serving as Editor in Chief of an international scientific journal, and member of a government research funding committee. I have drawn on past experience in the governance of MHT, as past vice-chair of the Governance Committee. I hope to continue to contribute to new initiatives as the MHT Board updates its structure and governance.
