Volunteering

We have many enthusiastic volunteers who help in many different ways to keep the Hills and Commons special. We thank all our existing volunteers for all their efforts in the office, on their local patch and out across the Hills and Commons.

As a volunteer we’re grateful for any time you can offer us and we have volunteers who come to every task and others who join us a couple of times a year.  One-off projects in the office and out on the Hills and Commons also provide short-term volunteer opportunities.

Conservation days

If you’ve got a passion for the outdoors and like to be ‘hands on’ then this could be the opportunity for you. Conservation days are held up to six times a month and are practical sessions to conserve the habitats of the Hills and Commons.

Activities may include coppicing and tree planting, pond clearance, removing bracken and bramble shading wild flowers, small tree and scrub clearance.

It’s a great way to get some fresh air and exercise with a great group of like-minded people whilst doing something worthwhile for the Malvern Hills and Commons.

All our regular conservation days are featured in our events listing but please contact us if you’re thinking of joining us for the first time – volunteers@malvernhills.org.uk.

Project volunteers

In addition to the opportunities above, we also undertake one-off projects which offer new volunteer opportunities.  In recent years we have worked with volunteers in the following tasks:

  • Social media content creator: help gather inspiring stories from across the Hills and Commons for our online engagement (must have own phone and camera)

The Malvern Hills Trust is the adopted working name of the Malvern Hills Conservators. MHT is a registered charity (charity no. 515804) originally established in 1884 by Act of Parliament. The Trust own, protect and manage this iconic English landscape, its unique cultural heritage, wildlife and geology for the benefit of the local community and the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come each year.
