Walkers and cyclists will have some help finding their way around the Malvern Hills thanks to the launch of a new map and guide.
The Malvern Hills Trust, the charity caring for the Malvern Hills and Commons has launched a new free map to help visitors navigate around the network of bridleways and footpaths on the Hills and Commons.
The map and guide has been put together with the help of local mountain bikers as part of the Malvern Hills Trust’s ‘Malverns by Mountain Bike’ campaign. Local walking groups and the Malvern Hills AONB have also provided help and support to produce a comprehensive map for a range of visitors.
Advice about enjoying this shared landscape in a responsible way is also provided to encourage the public to care for the precious heritage and sensitive wildlife of the Hills and Commons and also their fellow visitors too.
Beck Baker (Community and Conservation Officer) said ‘We’re really excited to launch this new leaflet which will help walkers and cyclists find their way around the Hills and Commons.’
‘I’d like to thank all of the volunteers who worked with us to make this possible.’
In addition to including the bridleways of the Malvern Hills for cyclists to follow in the map and guide, the Trust have opened up a series of permissive cycle paths to improve access for mountain bikers. The routes included in this new group of permissive cycle paths have been assessed and agreed by Historic England, Worcestershire County Council and other organisations to ensure their suitability.
‘We know that the bridleway network is limited in places so we have permitted access for mountain bikers on certain paths to allow cyclists to make the most of the wonderful landscape we have on our doorstep.’
Where can I get my copy?
