BBC Radio 4 presenter and author Brett Westwood arrived in Malvern yesterday (Thursday 24th May) to celebrate the launch of a new book – The Nature of the Malverns.
The Nature of the Malverns is the first book to cover all aspects of this iconic natural landscape including wildlife, geology and conservation. A foreword from Mr Westwood, who grew up in the West Midlands brings together the importance of this area for local wildlife.
The Malvern Hills Trust, Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and publishers, NatureBureau, have worked with over 100 volunteers to bring together this excellent publication. All the contributors, from editors, to photographers, to authors have put in of hours of their time freely to bring this project to fruition.
A range of habitats from woodlands, open hill land, parkland and urban areas provide a rich and varied collection of wildlife brought to life in stunning full page images. More detailed information relating to Malvern’s natural history alongside these images means that this is the perfect book for both amateur and experienced naturalists alike.
Where can I get my copy?
The book will be published on the first of June. Copies are now available at a discounted pre-publication rate from NatureBureau until 31st May 2018. After this date, copies will be available from Malvern Book Co-operative and the Ledbury Book and Map Shop.
All profits from the sales of this book will be put toward the conservation of the Malvern Hills and Commons to keep this landscape wildlife-rich and special for future generations too.
