For public safety, British Camp car park will be closed from 4pm today (Wednesday 10th February) to 4pm Thursday 11th February whilst essential tree safety work is underway.
A small section of path will also be closed and a diversion will be in place to allow the safe removal of the tree. Access to the wider British Camp area will remain open during this period.
The nearby alternative car park at Black Hill will be available to the public.
Beck Baker, Community and Conservation officer said "For your safety, please follow all signage on site and any safety instructions given by the contractors. We apologise for the inconvenience whilst this essential health and safety work is underway."
The work forms part of the Trust's routine tree safety works.
Tree safety
Following safety recommendations from an independent arboriculturalist, contractors are carrying out essential work on trees during February.
Each year, a third of trees on the Trust's land next to properties and roads are surveyed to identify any potential risks. This year the Jubilee Drive area, Wells Road and Castlemorton Common were among the areas surveyed and tree management is being carried out in these locations where required.
Recommendations in the tree safety report include the removal of dead branches from trees, pruning, and, in some faces, felling. Any trees that are recommended to be felled that are notable or are part of an avenue will be replaced with new saplings to ensure the characteristic avenues and landscapes are maintained.
Trees within the sub-urban landscape also provide a number of environmental and health benefits including reducing noise pollution, providing wildlife habitats and improving air quality. Replacing trees, where appropriate, will ensure that future generations also benefit from their presence in the landscape.
Relevant permissions have been sought from Malvern Hills District Council and Herefordshire Council for trees within Malvern's conservation Areas and for those with a Tree Preservation Order.
