Grundy's meadow field staff

Storm damage response at Grundy’s Meadow

Our field staff respond to a wide variety of incidental work that helps keep the Malvern Hills and Commons safe for all. Over the winter months, they responded to a fallen tree at Grundy’s Meadow after Storm Claudia passed through the area overnight. A large Norwegian maple had come down, requiring prompt action to make the site safe.

The team carefully cut the tree into smaller sections before using their new track chipper to process the brash. This approach allowed the work to be carried out efficiently while keeping disruption to a minimum.

Although it was a cold day, the weather stayed dry and clear, rewarding the team with bright sunshine throughout the work and a stunning sunset at the end of the day (captured in one of the photos below).

Responding to storm damage like this is an important part of caring for the Malvern Hills and Commons. Across more than 3,000 acres, our field staff work year-round to keep paths safe, protect habitats and manage the landscape for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you to the team for another job well done 💚
