Storm response and teamwork at Holywell
In November, of last year our field staff were called to Holywell to deal with a storm-damaged tree brought down during Storm Amy. The fallen tree was blocking a path close to the road, making the work both urgent and safety-critical.
The team carefully set up a safe working zone using cones and signage so traffic could pass safely while work was underway. The nearby gas lamp was also turned off as a precaution before operations began.
Removing the tree required a systematic approach: cutting, chipping and winching the timber in stages, and close communication between team members. Headset radios allow staff to stay in constant contact, particularly where sightlines can be limited and traffic management is in place.
Carried out on a crisp, beautiful autumn day, this was another great example of teamwork, professionalism and care in action. Work like this helps keep paths safe and accessible while protecting the special landscape of the Malvern Hills and Commons.
Thank you to our field staff for another job well done 💚
